Leif Abel, Co-Founder of Greatland Ganja is a second-generation cannabis cultivator. He resides in Kasilof, Alaska with his wife, two children, and extended family. The Abels cultivate cannabis, both in greenhouses with organic methods, and hydroponically indoors. A founding member of the Alaska Marijuana Industry Association, he has focused on public education, community involvement and public input. During the regulatory process in Alaska, he was appointed to the Kenai Peninsula Borough Marijuana Task Force, where he served out his term as chairman. Leif's favorite pastimes include being with his family, hiking, camping and working on his family farm.

After completing the start up stage at the Pharm as Cultivation Director, Sjoerd is now the Genetic Development and R&D Director for The PHARM LLC, a cannabis cultivation business in Willcox, Ariz. that operates a 320,000 square foot glass greenhouse. Sjoerd is a founding member of The Dutch Consulting Company (DCC). DCC’s operations are based on a collaborative platform. That company has enlisted the support of many of the industries’ leading experts to assist clients, including Harborside Farms in California, where DCC assists in all areas of Cannabis operations..

Laura Day Rivero

Laura Day Rivero is the Director of Operations at Yerba Buena in Portland, Ore., among the first eight recreationally licensed farms in Oregon. With more than 20 years of experience working with cannabis across several states, and eight-plus years of experience in strict seed-to-sale environments, she has designed and implemented various successful business models from dispensaries to cultivation focused around environmental stewardship, organic growing practices, creating a nurturing and empowering work environment with exemplary labor practices, and contributing to the local community. Yerba Buena was the first cannabis company to receive the 100 Best Green Companies award by Oregon Business Magazine and won the award in both 2017 and 2018, placing 9th and then 6th respectively in the state of Oregon, across all industries. In addition, Yerba Buena has been voted Best Indoor Grow by the Dope Industry Awards, Best CBD Strain by the Cultivation Classic two years in a row in addition to the Innovation Award for energy efficiency in 2018, Best Cannabis Farm in the Best of Portland by Willamette Week two years running, and the Dope Cup for Best Sativa. Day Rivero also serves as Vice Chair on the Board of the Cannabis Certification Council, a non-profit dedicated to establishing standards for organically produced cannabis using fair labor practices.

David Holmes

David Holmes has a master’s degree in Mathematics and was an award-winning adjunct mathematics professor. He was awarded a fellowship to conduct research at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. Holmes was inspired to cultivate marijuana in 1999 after a visit to a high-tech indoor garden. He launched his first large-scale commercial facility in 2007. Shortly thereafter, Clade9 was formed to meet demand for cultivation experts. Applying his expertise in grow room design and management, as well as world-class nutrients, Holmes focused on medical marijuana strain breeding. He has developed over a dozen strains including the Ying Yang, a high-CDB strain with superior seizure-reducing capacities.

Brooke Gehring is the CEO and co-owner of Colorado-based FGS Inc., the parent company of Patients Choice of Colorado (serving medical patients) and LiveGreen Cannabis (serving recreational cannabis consumers). In addition, she serves on numerous State of Colorado working groups that have been involved in cannabis rule-making since 2010. Gehring has developed strong relationships with government officials, state legislatures, the Colorado Department of Revenue, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Colorado Department of Agriculture, and has established other profound alliances on a national and international scale. She continues to work collectively amongst the industry groups, professionals and advocates toward further legitimizing the evolving marijuana industry.

Debby Goldsberry is executive director at Magnolia Wellness, an award-winning dispensary in Oakland, Calif., and the managing director of the Berkeley Community Care Center dispensary at Amoeba Music. She co-founded the Berkeley Patients Group (BPG) medical cannabis collective in 1999, directing its growth for more than 11 years. In 2017, Goldsberry published her first book, “Idiot’s Guide: Starting and Running a Marijuana Business.”

Born and raised in Seattle Wash., Hollingsworth graduated from Seattle Preparatory School and continued his studies at the University of Washington, where he joined Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. Hollingsworth started his cannabis company in 2013, and has overseen every aspect—from production to processing and sales. His primary focus is on advancing growing systems and planning for long-term growth and expansion of the company.

Nick Jack is Diego Pellicer - Colorado's chief retail officer, a professional cannabis retail sales expert and overall virtuoso on marijuana. Jack supervises the daily operations of Diego Pellicer - Colorado's retail store including cannabis procurement, sales, cash handling processes, financial reporting, inventory management, customer service, regulatory compliance, client communication, client education and maintains a culture of high-quality customer service. Jack has a vast knowledge of cannabis strains, their effects, proper dosages for patients, ingestion methods and state legislature/compliance. Jack won the 2017 Manager of the Year from the Cannabis Business Awards, and through his leadership, Diego Pellicer won the 2017 Dispensary Retail Store of the Year.

Kowalski never settles for status quo and digs deep into data to drive quality and efficiency within her operation. She received her B.S. in Horticulture from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Rich Kwesell

Richard Kwesell is the co-founder of Heartland Industries and Strawberry Fields along with his brother, Mike. After starting their company with three plants in a friend’s spare bedroom, the brothers are currently producing 14,000 lbs. of medical and recreational cannabis every year in Colorado.

Kwesell designed, built and currently operates a 90,000-square-foot greenhouse located in Pueblo County, Colo. He currently oversees all cultivation and production, development of internal controls, commercial grow room design, and integrated pest management (IPM) program design at Strawberry Fields. Prior to that, Kwesell worked in commercial agriculture on a greenhouse in northern Israel and became proficient in nutrient administration, IPM and high-volume plant management with quota-based production.

Crystal Oliver is co-owner/founder of Washington’s Finest Cannabis, an outdoor cannabis farm licensed by the WSLCB since August 2014. She also serves as Executive Assistant for Washington NORML and sits on the Cannabis Farmers Council Executive Board. She has been an advocate for small business and family farm friendly regulations in Washington State, and has represented cannabis farmer’s interest as a member of the Washington State Building Code Council’s Cannabis Issues Technical Advisory Group, Spokane Clean Air’s Marijuana Advisory Committee, and Spokane Conservation District’s Voluntary Stewardship Program. Oliver is regarded as an expert in navigating land use issues for cannabis farming and frequently serves as a resource for officials, regulators, policy-makers, and business owners.

Shreeve entered the medical cannabis industry seven years ago with her son, and she and her team opened The Baker, a division of Cookie Fam Genetics, a collaboration with legendary breeder “Jigga.” Shreeve’s group holds two recreational producer/processor licenses in Washington, and a recreational retail/processor license in Oregon.
