Richard Philbrook is a Plant Molecular Biologist specializing in applying cutting-edge biotechnology tools to improve Cannabis breeding. The research team at Dark Heart were the first to produce commercial high-THC sterile triploid varieties, first to discover natural polyploidy in Cannabis, and first to generate haploid Cannabis plants, in addition to identifying Hop Latent Viroid (HpLVd) in Cannabis. Richard’s previous work at the University of California, Davis included plant developmental genetics, gene editing, and identifying parasite resistance in Heinz tomato cultivars.
